Introducing HD Gallery Images for Edge Series Cameras

We upgraded our app’s Gallery images to HD quality. Resolution of the thumbnails is increasing, making the images in the gallery look clearer and crisper. You will see clearer, more detailed images, which will be especially apparent when zooming in to see antler tines.

What are High Resolution Images?

When your cellular trail camera takes a picture, it records and stores a high-resolution (Hi-Res) photo. The camera then sends the picture via cellular connection to your app's Gallery. It sends a preview image that is smaller in size. This enables the camera to quickly transmit new pictures. The hi-res version is still available to download from the app's Gallery, if you ever want to see it in max resolution.

What are HD Images?

Those preview images you see in the FieldNode App Gallery were recently upgraded (Aug 2025) to HD resolution. This means that you can zoom in and see 4x more detail than before. You'll see clear, HD images in the Gallery for all new images that are coming in from any Edge series camera. This upgrade applies to all Edge camera models, so you don't need to buy a new camera or a specific plan. You'll get higher-quality images for free.

FAQ's

Are Hi-Res and HD images the same thing?

No. Hi-Res images are the full resolution, original photo captured by the camera. HD Gallery Images are smaller than high-res ones, but still have great image quality.

Why do I still have the option to download Hi-Res?

You can still download the max resolution image that the camera captured, but with HD Gallery Images, you shouldn't have to request hi-res downloads as often.

Does this apply to older images in my Gallery?

No, but you'll see any new images that your camera captures in HD.

Do I need to do anything to get HD images?

No. The change is automatic. You don't need to do anything to see HD images in the Gallery.

Does my resolution in Settings control whether I get HD Gallery Images?

No, your camera settings don't affect getting HD Gallery Images.
