Important Notes: All traditional cameras will have an SD Card. All cellular cameras manufactured before the EDGE (pre-2023) will have an SD Card. All cellular cameras after that utilize internal memory.
FieldNode SD Card Cameras Best Practices
Please Note! Don’t Expect to Keep Existing Photos
Formatting wipes all images on the SD card – ensure all uploads are complete before formatting, or you have saved all of the desired images to your computer manually.
Use Manufacturer‑Recommended SD Cards
- Capacity: 8 GB or 16 GB SDHC (for any Traditional cameras & the X6/7000 Series Cellular Cameras.
- Capacity: 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB SDHC (for the following Cellular Cameras Only - Delta, EXO, Delta Base)
- Avoid: Any cards that are marked as SDXC and/or higher than the allowed size.
Format the Card In‑Camera Before Use
Why: Formatting creates the correct file structure and clears any corrupted data.
- Turn camera ON.
- Press and hold the FORMAT SD CARD button until the light flashes yellow.
- Release – wait for a steady green light = success; red light = retry or switch card.
- Wait ~60 seconds for full connection (all four lights cycle).
- Confirm all lights turn green and then cycle off – camera is now ready.
Tip: A solid green SD card light means successful formatting; red means format again.
Format via the App (When Possible)
- If the camera has checked in with the server in the last 24 hours and you'd like to erase all of the images from your SD Card remotely:
- Open camera settings in app.
- Toggle “Format SD Card” ON.
- The card formats automatically at the next check‑in, and the toggle resets.
- Important: If the camera hasn’t connected in 24+ hours, formatting must be done in‑camera.
Monitor the SD Card Light Status
- Green solid: Properly formatted and working
- Red solid: Formatting failed – retry or switch card
- Yellow blinking: Formatting in progress
Wait for Full Initialization
After formatting, allow approximately 60 seconds for the camera to rejoin the network and initialize properly (all four lights on then off).
Troubleshooting Reminder
If you follow these guidelines and still see issues (e.g., no photos, connection errors), double-check card compatibility and formatting. If problems persist, try another compatible SD card or contact support.
