Troubleshooting

Having trouble getting your feeder kit to spin and disperse your feed?  Continue scrolling for more information on how to get back up and running, or watch our short video below.

Please keep in mind that if you are utilizing the feeders' Bluetooth functionality to work the device from your phone, ensure that Bluetooth is turned on on your phone before proceeding with troubleshooting.

  1. Do you have the device with you?
    1. If no, please retrieve the device and then begin the troubleshooting steps.
    2. If yes, proceed below. - If you are utilizing the feeders' Bluetooth functionality to work the device from your phone, ensure that Bluetooth is turned on on your phone before proceeding at this point.
  2. Press the “Test” button and move away from the feeder
    1. Did the spin plate rotate?
      1. If yes, the motor is working — no further troubleshooting is needed.
      2. If no, continue to Step 3.
  3. Check the batteries
    1. Confirm 8 AA batteries are installed.
    2. Confirm the batteries are Alkaline or Lithium (FieldNode or Energizer brand recommended).
      1. Do not use rechargeable batteries — they provide less current and can cause issues.
    3. If using the app, confirm battery level is at least 20% on the devices list screen.
    4. Replace batteries if low or incorrect type.
  4. Confirm battery orientation
    1. Ensure batteries are inserted properly. The negative (-) end should face the spring in each compartment.
    2. If installed incorrectly, reinsert properly and check again.
    3. Note: Reverse polarity should not damage the timer.
  5. Check the timer assembly
    1. Confirm the timer puck is fully inserted into the kit assembly.
    2. Press the timer firmly on the outer edges until an audible “click” is heard.
    3. If the timer drops down when the eject button is pressed or can be pulled out easily, reseat until secure.
  6. Check for motor jam
    1. Attempt to rotate the spin plate by hand.
    2. If the plate feels stuck or requires significant force, remove any debris or blockage.
    3. Once cleared, attempt another test spin.
  7. Confirm functionality
    1. If the spin plate now rotates during the test spin:
      1. The motor is functioning — no further steps are needed.
      2. If the motor still does not spin:
      3. Remove the kit from the hopper.
      4. Run a test spin with no feed.
        1. If the motor still does not spin, reach back out to us.
