Troubleshooting

The 10W Universal Solar Power Pack is designed to maintain power for compatible trail cameras using solar energy. If you're experiencing power-related issues, follow the steps below to validate functionality and restore performance.

Power Validation Steps

Use these steps if the device is not recognizing the power source or having connection issues:

  1. Check Battery Level:
    1. Press the battery level indicator button on the solar panel.
    2. If no lights appear:
      1. Charge the panel fully using a USB to USB-C cord, charging block, and a different wall outlet for 4–14 hours, or until fully charged.
      2. Once charged, reconnect to the device and test again.
  2. If Lights Do Come On:
    1. Check Port Connection:
      1. Ensure the panel is connected via the 12V port.
      2. If the incorrect port was used, switch to the correct one and re-test.
    2. Test Device Power with Batteries:
      1. Disconnect the solar panel from the device.
      2. Insert new Energizer or FieldNode batteries into the camera and attempt to power it on.
      3. If the device does not power on, the issue may lie with the device itself — contact support.
      4. If the device does power on, continue troubleshooting the panel.
  3. Reconnect and Secure Cables:
    1. Fully charge the panel again (if needed).
    2. Unplug both ends of the solar panel cord, then plug them back in securely.
    3. Ensure both ends are fully seated and screwed down if applicable.

No Power – General Troubleshooting

Use this when the panel appears unresponsive or not supplying any power:

  1. Charge the Solar Panel:
    1. Use a USB to USB-C cord and a different wall outlet.
    2. Charge for 4–14 hours, or until fully charged.
  2. Reconnect the Cord:
    1. Unplug both ends of the solar panel cord.
    2. Plug them back in securely and screw down connections if needed.
  3. Sunlight Check:
    1. Confirm the panel is receiving adequate sunlight during daytime hours.

Additional Notes

  1. Ensure the panel is not shaded and is angled toward direct sunlight.
  2. Always test with known working batteries to isolate the issue.
