Troubleshooting

Experience issues with your Power Mag? Run through the below troubleshooting for most issues.

1.  Press the "Check Battery" button and observe the indicator light.

  • If no lights come on, charge the battery pack fully using a USB to USB-C cord, charging block, and a different wall outlet for at least 4-14 hours, or until fully charged then reinsert the battery pack into the device.
  • If lights do come on, continue the troubleshooting.

2.  Insert either Energizer Max or FieldNode batteries into the original battery tray then insert into device.

  • If device turns on, the Rechargeable Battery Pack may be the issue. Continue troubleshooting.
  • If device does not turn on, it could be the device itself. If that is the case, please reply back and let us know.

3.  Charge the battery pack fully using a USB to USB-C cord (we also suggest trying a USB-C to USB-C cord), a charging block, and a different wall outlet for 4-14 hours, or until fully charged.

  • Once fully charged, reinsert the battery pack into the device.

Power Tip: Rechargeable Battery Compatibility

Not all rechargeable battery packs work the same way in trail cameras. Some third-party or off-brand rechargeable packs may not manage power in the same way as approved battery options. Because of this, they can sometimes:

  • Provide inconsistent power while the camera is operating
  • Report battery status inaccurately
  • Cause unexpected restarts or missed check-ins
  • Lead to upload or connection issues that look like camera problems but are power-related

What We Recommend

If you’re experiencing unexplained connection, upload, or stability issues, one of the quickest ways to rule out a power-related cause is to test the camera with a different power source.

We recommend testing with one of the following:

  • A FieldNode rechargeable battery pack, or
  • A fresh set of Energizer/FieldNode alkaline or lithium AA batteries. This quick test often helps determine whether the issue is power-related and can prevent unnecessary troubleshooting.

If after the above troubleshooting has been completed and the Rechargeable Battery Pack still seems to not be working, please give us a call with the device and battery pack in hand so we are able to troubleshoot live.
