How To Use FieldNode Connect

FieldNode Connect lets you control compatible FieldNode Bluetooth feeders directly through your Edge 3 Series camera using cellular connectivity — no need to be on site. It’s an easy way to manage feeding from anywhere.

What You Can Do with FieldNode Connect

When your Edge 3 or Edge 3 Pro camera is paired with a compatible Bluetooth feeder, you’ll be able to:

  • Sync feed times with sunrise and sunset
  • Check feeder battery level
  • View estimated feed level
  • Update feed times remotely
    • Set different feed schedules for different days of the week
  • Trigger Feed on Demand

Note: Your feeder must be within 300 feet of the connected camera for Bluetooth communication to work.

What You’ll Need

To use FieldNode Connect, you’ll need:

  • An Edge 3 or Edge 3 Pro camera
  • A compatible FieldNode Bluetooth feeder kit or timer (Universal Digital Timer III, Pro Hunter III (broadcast or directional model), All-In-One II)
  • An active subscription on the camera

How FieldNode Connect Works

The way FieldNode Connect communicates with your feeder depends on your camera’s On Demand status.

With On Demand OFF

  • Feeder health checks (error notifications) are sent once daily
  • Setting changes (such as feed time updates) apply once daily

With On Demand ON

  • Feed on Demand is available and takes ~3 minutes to trigger
  • Setting changes to the feeder's On-Demand feature happen instantly.
  • Scheduled feed times still update once daily

To complete these actions, utilize the "Devices" tab within the App to select the desired device you wish to initiate any FieldNode Connect actions to.

How to Link Your Feeder to Your Camera Using FieldNode Connect

Follow the steps below to link a compatible FieldNode feeder to your Edge 3 series camera:

Step 1: Check for the Link Banner

Open the app.
Do you see a banner that says “Ready to link with camera – Link Now”?

  • Yes → Go to Step 2

  • No

    • Make sure you are:

      • Using a compatible Edge 3 series camera

      • Using a Bluetooth-enabled feeder such as:

        • Pro Hunter III

        • All-In-One II

        • Any feeder using the Universal Digital Timer III

      • Within 100 yards of both the camera and feeder

      • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and in the app

    • If any of these requirements are not met, linking will not be successful.

Step 2: Tap “Link Now”

Did you tap “Link Now”?

  • Yes → The app will attempt to link the camera and feeder using FieldNode Connect. You should see a spinning wheel that says “Searching for camera…”
    → Go to Step 3

  • No → Tap “Link Now” to begin the linking process.

Step 3: Wait for the Spinner

Did the spinning wheel stop?

  • Yes → Go to Step 4

  • No → Wait for it to complete or try again later.

Step 4: Check for Success

Did you see a success message?

  • Yes

    • Your feeder is now successfully linked to your camera via FieldNode Connect.

    • The feeder should begin communicating with our servers through the camera.

    • If On Demand is enabled, a Feed on Demand action should be available within a few minutes.

  • No

    • The camera did not link to the feeder. Check the following:

      • Camera and feeder are within 100 yards of each other

      • Your phone is also within 100 yards of the camera

      • Both devices are powered on and have sufficient battery

    • You can:

      • Tap Try Again, or

      • Wait for the system to automatically retry the link

How Does This Affect Battery Life?

Using FieldNode Connect with On Demand enabled can have a noticeable impact on your camera's battery life. When On Demand is turned on, your camera maintains a more frequent connection to allow real-time actions — which uses more power.

If battery life is a concern, you can:

  • Turn off On Demand to reduce background communication
  • Use a FieldNode Solar Power Pack or Power Mag for extended runtime
  • Monitor battery levels from the app and adjust features accordingly
